Not Just Another Software Company

Are you an experienced software developer?
Want to work on radically new kinds of products/services and redefine what people do with video, pictures and music? Create software that's on the bleeding edge? Crack new problems every day and learn new tricks (and show us some of your own)? In an environment where everyone's very serious about doing an outstanding job, but people don't take themselves too seriously? Where hard work and fun go hand in hand? Where creativity and passion matter, but conformance doesn't?

We're looking for experienced developers for a range of projects, but specific software skill-sets aren't as important as the three qualities below:

1. Maturity
You have at least three years' intensive experience in some area of software development, and possess the self-discipline to create code that's user-friendly, robust, maintainable, fast and lean.

2. Smarts
You're an extremely fast learner.  You can crack hard coding problems evenfaster.  And your intelligence is highly practical - you get the job done.

3. Passion
You have loads of drive and get a kick from creating killer code that makes users very *very* happy.

And who is muvee anyway?

Seven years ago we invented something that no one had done before: software that *automatically* edits raw video and pictures to music, creating finished, professional-looking video productions.  Impossible?  No.  We've proven it can be done, and millions of people around the world are already using it.

By making the software highly intelligent, we've made it so easy that even your granny could use it.  In fact, some of our users *are* grannies (in addition to kids, clubbers, mums & dads - people of all ages).

Since we started, muvee's been pushing this new field forward at a frenetic pace.  We're miles ahead of our competitors anywhere in the world, and growing like crazy - this year we've almost doubled our staff size.  But this is no dotcom bubble: our revenue is growing even faster, and we've been profitable since last year.  And we have blue-chip partners. If you recently bought a HP PC, a Sony camcorder, a Nikon camera, or a Nokia phone anywhere in the world, there's a very good chance our software is in it.

What would you be working on if you joined us?

Our software is about processing video, images and music, so a lot of our software development is directly in those areas.  But the range of work is much wider, from GUI design to application architecture to multi-processor optimization to web services and billing systems.

Most of our coding is in C++, but we do some work using Java, J2ME, PHP, ASP(.Net), Shell scripts, Python, PERL and more.  Our platforms include Windows, Windows Media Center Edition, Symbian, Linux, BREW, and proprietary embedded systems.
