muvee Co-Founder is Among Distinguished Panelists at BlueSky Forum for Entrepreneurship
Singapore and New York –– August 02, 2007 – muvee Technologies, the pioneer and global leader in Instant Personal Video, is proud to announce that its co-founder, Terence Swee, will be a forum panelist at this year’s BlueSky Festival. Organized by the Action Community for Entrepreneurship (ACE) and its partner agencies, the Festival celebrates and showcases Singapore’s leading entrepreneurs.
The highlight of the Festival is a plenary forum titled “Entrepreneurship in Singapore: Built to Last?” that is aimed at start-ups and small-to-medium enterprises (SMEs). Chaired by Dr Vivian Balakrishnan, Singapore’s Minister for Community Development, Youth and Sports and Second Minister for Trade and Industry, the forum gives Festival attendees the opportunity to engage in interactive dialog with the panelists to discuss issues such as the drivers for entrepreneurship, enterprise management, and the influence of the public sector in fostering entrepreneurship in Asia and the West. The forum will also touch on the Singapore experience thus far and explore the road ahead. Drawing from his experience as muvee’s Chief Opportunities Officer, Terence will share his insight on the strategic marketing and business development issues that start-up businesses face in the global playing field.
Terence remarked, “I’m honored to be on this year’s panel and I’m looking forward to sharing my experiences at muvee with the group. In the 4 years since our incorporation in 2001, muvee has earned patents for our technologies and tripled revenues each year. From 8 people in a research lab, we’ve grown to over 60 spread across 3 offices at our headquarters at The Bencoolen. We’re doing business with key global players and we were profitable last year. It hasn’t always been easy, and we’re still facing new challenges every day, but when you hit the ground running with a great idea, you can imagine that the road we’re traveling is nothing short of exciting. We always have good stories to tell.”
A born and bred local boy-next-door, Terence earned both his Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Engineering from the National University of Singapore (NUS), and contributes actively by speaking about his global business experiences at corporate seminars, local polytechnics and the NUS Enterpreneurship Centre. After completing his post-graduate research, Terence helped develop muvee’s award-winning muvee autoProducer software, and continues to play an instrumental role in negotiating multi-million dollar licensing deals with the top global players in every consumer electronic segment that muvee participates in. Earlier this year, he was awarded the IT Leader Awards’ Young IT Professional of the Year for 2005 by the Singapore Computer Society (SCS).
muvee’s notable achievements recently prompted Singapore’s Senior Minister to highlight it as one of the “newer companies whose innovations are making waves in their respective industries” during his opening speech at the inaugural Ernst & Young Entrepreneur of the Year World Summit 2005 held in Singapore in February 2005.
The BlueSky Festival runs from July 14-17, 2005, and the Finance Forum will be held on the first day of the Festival from 9am-2pm at the Raffles City Convention Centre, Level 4. The panel also includes Mr. Kwek Leng Beng, Executive Chairman, Hong Leong Group; Mr. Patrick Daniel, Managing Editor of Singapore Press Holdings’ English and Malay Newspapers Division, and Mr. Viswa Sadasivan, Chairman and Founding Partner of The Right Angle Group.
