Want to add some impact to your photos? Consider using the Rule of Thirds, a very simple way to improve your composition. It goes like this:
- Picture your viewfinder as being divided into three vertical sections and 3 horizontal sections (see image below).
- When you go to take a picture (portraits, action, landscapes, you name it) try to have your main subject positioned at the intersection of the lines (on one of the four dots shown below).
- That’s it! This simple rule has been used for decades by professionals as a way of adding interest and energy to their shots.
